I've been in Sarasota for so long, it's easy to forget a lot of people may not have a good idea of where we are in Florida, relative to other big cities.
When I was researching this I was surprised at how similar the distances were. According to Google Maps, Jacksonville FL is 252 miles away, and Miami is 230 miles.
Plan on a 4 hour drive to either city, more during rush hour or during our high season months November-March.
Another large and convenient airport in our area is Ft. Myers (RSW), between 90 minutes to 2 hours south on I-75
I hope information like this will help you plan your next trip to come see us using an alternative airport to SRQ.
